When can I start this program?

We designed this program to be safe to start as soon as you feel ready. This program addresses day to day posture and movement and it is best to establish these good habits soon after your baby is born.

Do I need the approval of my Dr/midwife to start this program?

Speaking to your Dr. or Midwife about your specific scenario is always a good idea. With this in mind the program is designed to work on improving the strength and quality of movements you are already doing most everyday. Think of this program as building a foundation for movement and life.

When I get the new exercises, am I supposed to stop doing the previous exercises or just keep adding every week?

No you shouldn’t add up all the exercises from week to week. We suggest that you don’t progress from week to week until you have completed 6-7 days of the exercises. For some people that might take 10 days to 2 weeks. Once you have accomplished those 6-7 days if you are still struggling with a specific exercise we suggest staying on that exercise until you feel confident with it. Once you have the confidence with the exercises, you can put those exercises on the back burner and move onto the next weeks.

What is the reason these specific exercises are being used?

We have selected exercises and positions that will allow us to teach core muscles to engage. We will have you on the ground, on your knees and in standing to mimic day-to-day life as a MOM.

After the 6 week program is finished, am I supposed to keep doing these exercises?

The purpose of the program is that you apply what you have learned here and move on to your next exercise goals.

What if I am doing other activities at the same time as this program?

Most of you have come to this program to help with some specific issues you are having. Depending on how close postpartum you are and what severity your symptoms are at will change how much you can do. We want you to establish good core muscle habits and so focusing on this program until they are well engrained is important before adding other activities. We love walking as addition to this program and because of this we include tips for building a walking routine on the inside.

How will I know I am ready to progress to the next week’s exercises?

We recommend you complete these exercises for 6-7 days before moving on to the next. You should notice that the exercises start feeling easier as the week goes on because your body recognizes it. However, you may find that some weeks are easier than others for your, work at your pace.

Are there any medical reasons I can’t do this program?

There are no absolute contraindications to doing this program, however if you are in doubt please do not hesitate to contact us, or consult with your doctor or midwife.

How do I know if I should seek further help?

We consider these exercises to be safe in the early postpartum phase but we also advocate for 1:1 assessments with a pelvic health physiotherapist to assess your unique body. Document your symptoms before you start the program, and continue to monitor those symptoms each week. If you find they are getting worse throughout the program or you feel they have not improved at all when you are done the program, we strongly urge you to make an appointment with your doctor or pelvic health physiotherapist.

When can I return to harder exercise?

Once you have completed this program, use what you have learned and apply it to whatever it is you want to do. Listen to your body and don’t just push through symptoms of leaking, vaginal or rectal heaviness or something just not feeling right.

Can I still do this program if my kids aren't babies anymore?

Postpartum is forever! If you experience symptoms like leaking, heaviness or pressure in your vagina, abdominal separation, low back pain or the sensation you have no core then yes, give this program a try!
