Self-Care for Moms in Under 15 minutes

Self-Care for Moms in Under 15 minutes

First, let’s get one thing straight. Self-care for moms is NOT selfish. Self-care is taking care of yourself first so you can care for your family better. We are only human and will burn out eventually, so give yourself the care and maintenance you deserve to be your best self. You deserve it! The goal of self-care is to do things that make you feel good, healthy and happy.

That being said, there is only so much time we can give ourselves to practice self-care. Moms are spread so thin and it’s very common to neglect self-care and burnout. Make it a priority to schedule small chunks of time throughout the day for self-care. Let’s look at different ways we can practice self-care for moms in under 15 minutes.

Apply a face mask

This is a quick one–apply, leave it, rinse, feel great! Skin care is important for women especially for moms who lack sleep. Don’t forget to drink lots of water throughout the day too.

Spending a few minutes writing out your thoughts in a journal can be therapeutic. Not a writer? Try simply creating a list of all the things you are feeling grateful for. You will leave with a full heart of gratitude.

Go outside

Sometimes a big inhale of fresh air is all we need to ground ourselves and recharge. Take 15 minutes to walk around your block at a slow pace. Take in your surroundings, daydream, let your mind wander. This is your moment to focus on you. Leave the dishes for 15 minutes and go for a walk outside!

Get physical

The biggest excuse for not working out is lack of time. You don’t need hours a day at the gym to get a workout in. Quick 15-minute home workouts are possible through online video workouts or on your own.  Endorphins are released during physical activity so you will be great afterwards and feel accomplished too.

Make a delicious salad

No one ever felt bad for eating a salad. Have a little fun and try a unique salad recipe that is both delicious and good for you. You will feel satisfied because not only was it tasty, it was healthy for you too.

Treat yourself

Indulge a little. You know that little stash of treats you hide from the rest of your family? Once in a while it’s ok to reward yourself for doing an amazing job at mommying and enjoy a tasty treat.

Meditate in the morning

Get up 15 minutes before the rest of your family and take in all of that silence. Use the app Headspace for a guided meditation. It’s quick easy and will help your soul feel at ease.

What are you waiting for, mama? Go carve out 15 minutes and do something for you! Self-care for moms should never be neglected. Remember, you deserve this!
